Education & EdTech

SEO for schools, colleges and edtech

Education SEO makes your institution visible while parents and students are researching — which happens weeks or months before an application is submitted. Because admissions run on fixed cycles, the visibility has to be built in advance; you cannot start in March and expect to influence a June intake.

How your customers search

What people actually type before they contact you

This is where generic SEO advice falls apart. Get the intent wrong and you rank for words nobody who buys from you ever uses.

Parents and students search differently

Parents search “best CBSE school in Whitefield with transport”; students search the brand name, the cutoff, and the reviews. You need content for both, and they rarely belong on the same page.

Comparison is the dominant intent

“X school vs Y school”, “fees structure”, “admission process”, “reviews” — the research phase is comparative, and whoever answers the comparison honestly earns the trust.

Hyper-local for K-12

Nobody sends a six-year-old across Bengaluru. School searches are locality-bound, which makes local SEO and locality pages disproportionately valuable.

Reviews and reputation are the deciding factor

Parents read Google reviews and forums before enquiring. Reputation work is part of the SEO job here, not a separate thing.

What makes this hard

The problems specific to your sector

None of these are unsolvable. All of them are ignored by an agency running the same playbook for every client.

  • A short, fixed window when demand spikes, and a long quiet period that tempts you to stop
  • Fee and admission information buried in PDFs that search engines handle badly
  • Aggregator sites and listicles outranking institutions for their own category terms
  • Enquiry forms that ask for twelve fields and lose the parent at field four
Our approach

What we do differently for education

  1. Work backwards from the admission calendar

Content and campaigns land 8–12 weeks before enquiry season, so you are already ranking when demand arrives.

  2. Build the pages parents actually look for

Fees, admission process, curriculum, facilities, transport routes, faculty — as real, indexable pages, not downloadable PDFs.

  3. Own your locality

Locality-specific pages and a fully built Google Business Profile, because “school near me” and “preschool in <area>” are where the volume sits.

  4. Answer comparison queries honestly

Content that helps a parent decide — including where you are not the right fit — outperforms brochure copy and earns links.

  5. Run paid during the peak

Google Ads and Meta lead campaigns concentrated in the enquiry window, with WhatsApp as the primary contact route because that is what parents use.

Timing

When demand actually happens

Indian admission cycles concentrate enquiries in January–April for the main intake and June–July for the second wave, with coaching and test-prep peaking around board and entrance exam results. SEO must be in place before these windows — organic visibility cannot be switched on in the peak month. We plan content and campaign calendars around your specific intake dates.

Frequently asked questions

When should we start SEO for the next admission season?

At least six months before your enquiry window opens. Organic visibility takes 4–6 months to build meaningfully, so starting in the peak month means paying for ads to cover a gap that planning would have avoided.

We are a coaching centre competing with big brands. Is SEO realistic?

Yes, on local and specific terms. You will not outrank a national brand for “IIT coaching”, but “NEET coaching in Jayanagar with weekend batches” is winnable, and it is where students who will actually enrol are searching.

Should fees be published on the website?

It is a commercial decision, but from a search perspective “fees” is one of the highest-volume queries in education and hiding it sends parents to forums where the information is wrong. A fee range with a clear enquiry route usually outperforms silence.

Do you work with online course platforms?

Yes. Edtech SEO is different work — course and category pages, topic authority, and competing nationally rather than locally — but the same principles apply.

How do we handle negative reviews?

Respond publicly, calmly and specifically, and fix what caused them. Building steady review volume from satisfied parents matters more than any single bad review. We do not remove or fake reviews.
